Luxury items from big-name brands are ultra-popular holiday gifts, but with so many impostors out there, it's extra important to be sure you're buying the real thing. Shopping online places greater distance between you and your purchase (which allows serious room for scams), but these days it's even tricky to spot a counterfeit item in person. The online consumer site SiteJabber has put together a list of the top 10 counterfeit items and brands for the holiday season. If you're looking to buy any of the goods listed below, you'll want to be extra careful about where you buy the item and examine it closely or check the store's return policy before you commit.

To avoid complications, you should try and shop from the real, licensed store whenever possible, or a reputable website. Never buy luxury items on the street or from a random site online. Search engines cannot screen for sites carrying knock-offs and the pictures you see may vary from the actual item you receive. Do some research ahead of time to know exactly what your item should look like. If a vendor only accepts cash, this is also a red flag. Keep receipts and use a credit card so you have a record of your transaction.

Dai Haifei, a 24-year-old architect in Beijing, China, found an ingenious solution to live rent-free. He built himself a mobile egg-shaped house that is powered by the sun.


The 6-foot-high structure, which is small enough to fit on a sidewalk, is made of bamboo strips, wood chippings, sack bags, and grass seed that’s expected to grow in the spring.

The pod features a solar panel on the roof that powers a lamp in the cozy space. The house cost around $1,000 to build (6427 yen), according to China Daily.

It seems Haifei has taken the trend of living in tiny spaces to a whole new level.

Unbelievable video of Metrodome collapse from inside stadium

The Metrodome collapsed early Sunday morning after a blizzard dumped 17 inches of snow on Minneapolis. Because of the damage to the stadium, Monday's scheduled New York Giants-Minnesota Vikings game was moved to Detroit's Ford Field


Cameras were positioned inside the stadium and caught the collapse on tape. To call the video incredible would be an understatement. It looks like the beginning of Armageddon

The roof over the Metrodome is inflatable, not hard. It's the same sort of bubble you see over swimming pools or tennis courts in the winter, making this collapse almost like a deflated balloon imploding onto the field.




As a result, the damage is not thought to be severe enough to close the stadium for an extended period of time. It will, however, force the Vikings and Giants to play elsewhere on Monday night, continuing the odyssey of this game which began on Saturday when the Giants were stuck in Kansas City because of airport closures.


Heavy snows in Minnesota closed the Minneapolis airport, which left the Giants stranded in the midwest. The game between the Vikings and Giants, originally scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday had been moved to Monday night because of the delays. Now the teams will fly to Detroit to play at Ford Field, which will be available after the Lions host the Packers on Sunday. The Giants-Vikings game will kick off at 7:20 p.m. ET. Tickets will be free for anyone who wants to attend. Any ticket holders for the game in Minnesota will receive preferential seating at the 50-yard line if they can make the journey through the snow-ravaged Midwest.

In defense of what we imagine will be the indefensible, the special sweaters might have come closer to working were it not for the gaudy "Happy Holidays" on the bottom of the jersey. (Oh, and seriously: Just have it read "Merry Christmas." Holly, lights, glass balls ... unless there's a dreidel on the fighting strap, let's not pretend it's a "holiday" jersey, mkay?)


So maybe a tweak here or there saves the effort; instead, the Florida Everblades look like a greeting card from the dollar store that was marinated in toxic waste.

Taylor Announces His Next Movie

The Twilight series may be coming to an end soon, but it def won't be the last time we see our fave Twilight stars, especially Taylor Lautner! It's just been confirmed that Taylor's signed on to star in yet another flick, the science fiction thriller Incarceron, based on the book by Catherine Fisher. Tay will star as Finn, who's lived his whole life in Incarceron, a futuristic prison society. Finn meets the daughter of the warden, who is trapped in her own prison, a futuristic world that's been made to look like the 17th Century. She and Finn stumble upon each other by finding a crystal that lets them communicate, and together they try to hatch a plan to get Finn out of Incarceron.
